Synopsis

The disappearance of a 13-year-old Embera girl, whose parents forced her to marry a teacher, awakens the maternal instinct of Morelia and drives her to use her influence as governor to find her whereabouts.

Why it matters to us

Mûpã combines a personal story of empowerment with a brave look at the tensions between tradition and justice. In the sacred forests of Antioquia, Morelia’s journey reveals the quiet strength of a woman who, facing rejection and pain, is forced to make profound decisions. The film moves with its humanity, cultural context, and the way it links the personal to the collective.
