The mountain holds its secret: Mystery on the Mountain, Europe’s most successful horror-comedy, opens in Colombia this April.

This April one of the most anticipated releases of the year arrives in Colombian theaters: Mystery on the Mountain, the horror-comedy that has conquered festivals across five continents and become one of Europe’s most celebrated genre films. The film will be showing at Colombia’s leading exhibitors.

WHAT IS THE STORY ABOUT?

Michel and Cathy live a quiet life in the mountains, trapped in the routine of a marriage with no surprises in sight. Everything changes in an instant: a bear causes an accident that leads them to accidentally kill two drug traffickers – and to discover a suitcase containing more than two million euros in the trunk of the vehicle.

The temptation is immediate. They decide to cover up the incident and keep the money. What follows is a storm of consequences: radical shifts in their relationship, darkly comic criminal entanglements, and the growing attention of a local police force that starts asking uncomfortable questions.

At 113 minutes of pure adrenaline, Mystery on the Mountains is a film that never lets you breathe. Every twist raises more questions than answers, and between nerves, awkward silences, and unexpected laughs, the suspense becomes irresistible. Critics have compared it to Fargo, but with the warmth and irony of the very best contemporary European cinema: witty, sharp, and far beyond what you’d expect.

Directed by Franck Dubosc -who also stars in the film- alongside Laure Calamy and Benoît Poelvoorde, three of the biggest names in French cinema today, the film is a production backed by Gaumont, the oldest film production company in the world. Its international festival journey speaks for itself: Leeds International Film Festival, Istanbul International Film Festival, Cairo International Film Festival, Mar del Plata International Film Festival, and Solothurn Film Festival are just a few of the doors that opened for it.

With this release, Antártica launches its new curatorial line Sideral in Colombia -dedicated to genre cinema: suspense, thriller, black comedy, and horror that deserve to be experienced on the big screen, with all the intensity that only a dark theater can provide. Mystery on the Mountain is the first film in this line, and it couldn’t be a stronger statement: a film that delivers high-octane entertainment while asking sharp questions about temptation, ambition, and the randomness of everyday life.

Mystery on the Mountain opens this Thursday, April 2nd, nationwide. What would you do if danger and temptation arrived together, disguised as the chance of a lifetime?
